As he takes his first breath on the earth, or better to say when his inception starts, he gets himself associated with society. It is an abstract relationship before birth, which shows its impact after birth through activities. Throughout life, a man has to follow the basic rules of life, and it will be better to say that the real meaning of life and modes of behavior are obtained only by following rules, regulations and norms established by the particular society. 2024-08-13T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Mind and Society https://mindandsociety.in/index.php/MAS/article/view/783 Study of Mental Health,Self Esteem and Domestic Violence in relation to type of Family and tenure of Marriage 2024-07-21T13:52:59+00:00 Shriji Khemariya kntripathi_bu@rediffmail.com K. It adversely affects performance and outcomes in academic and work settings. Apart from performance, it also has adverse consequences for health (physical and mental). Despite the abundance of studies about procrastination, in general, there is a dearth of research about health-related procrastination. Fewer studies have shed light on the phenomena and possible factors affecting it. This study explores the role of occupational stress and job insecurity as two factors affecting health-related procrastination among private school teachers. This correlational study was conducted on 100 teachers working in private schools in varanasi. These teachers were chosen, employing a purposive sampling method. The data collection was done using the health-related procrastination questionnaire, job insecurity scale, and occupational stress index. Finally, the data was analyzed using SPSS software. Results indicate that occupational stress was significantly correlated with exercise procrastination and healthy diet procrastination but job insecurity was not. Stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed to examine the role of demographic variables (BMI and self-rated health) and occupational stress in predicting exercise procrastination and healthy diet procrastination. Results indicate that the only significant predictor of exercise procrastination is body mass index and the only best predictor of healthy diet procrastination is occupational stress. Both exercise and healthy diet procrastination also predict each other in the regression model. In general, the results depict that reducing occupational stress and a balanced BMI can lead to less health-related procrastination, which may promote better health.
2024-08-14T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Mind and Society https://mindandsociety.in/index.php/MAS/article/view/716 A Pilot study on Mindfulness-based Intervention in treating Adolescence with Internet Gaming Disorder 2023-11-13T07:17:42+00:00 Jim Varghese jalackal@gmail.com Vandana Pandey jalackal@gmail.com
Background and Aims: Mindfulness based intervention has been effectively used in both substance related addiction and nonsubstance related addiction like internet or smart phone addiction on account of the emergence of internet and smartphone. The intervention group received 8 sessions mindfulness module for a period of two months, one session per week each. A base level assessment was done in the first week by making use of internet gaming disorder Scale, Visual analogue Scale and Mindfulness attention awareness scale (MAAS), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and post intervention assessment was used (8th week) and after two weeks following the intervention, follow up assessment was completed. Results:10 adolescents from each group completed the intervention and follow up. Overall addiction score decreased significantly when compared to base level assessment. The results also indicated reduction in the craving for internet use, improvement in emotion regulation especially in the form of reappraisal and improvement in mindful attention awareness. Discussion and conclusion: This pilot study demonstrated that mindfulness-based intervention could bring about significant changes in the internet game related problem among adolescence.
2024-08-14T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Mind and Society https://mindandsociety.in/index.php/MAS/article/view/749 Investigative Forensic ToolKit Usage and Determinants of Adoption Behavior among Police Personnel 2024-04-10T09:43:24+00:00 Virendra Nirban nirban@pilani.bits-pilani.ac.in Umesh Mishra p20180107@pilani.bits-pilani.ac.in
Technology has become integral to personal and professional spheres in the last two decades. If people use EI skills before the onset of any challenges, it may protect them against adverse mental health outcomes by increasing happiness. The key objective of mental and public health research is to find ways to lessen negative, stressful situations' lasting mental health impact and increase happiness. The goal of this perspective article is presenting a theoretical model of the interplay and collective contribution of various interrelated (but, as yet, isolated) mechanisms linking DM and mental health, such as decentering, nonattachment, emotion regulation difficulties, and positive and negative affect. Through the synthesis of isolated research findings, the present article postulates two interrelated yet distinct categories of mechanisms in explaining the beneficial impact of DM on mental health: metacognitive and affective mechanisms. This perspective article recommends empirical validation of the proposed model across diverse populations and demographic groups so as to facilitate tailored mindfulness interventions.

2024-08-13T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Mind and Society
