Reasons for Divorce in Hindu Families of Indore District

Abstract
The Divorce Act has been passed in India, but even today most of the Hindus are against it, because this act was born due to the influence of western education and civilization. Which is foreign and contrary to Indian tradition and culture? Consciousness of their rights also developed among women themselves and finally in 1955, both men and women got the right to divorce in the Hindu Marriage Act. Many men do not want women to have the same rights as men. But with the passage of time the views are changing. Many sociological studies have also been done to find out the changing attitude towards divorce. It has been found from these studies that due to the promotion of education and awareness among women and the atrocities committed by men on women, due to different ideologies, an atmosphere is being created in favor of divorce. In the present study, various customs prevailing in the society and family members forcing the aggrieved woman etc. have been analyzed the major reasons for divorce. In the present research paper, out of 1123 cases registered in family counseling centers of Indore district, analysis has been done through objective method on the basis of total 225 selected cases by interviewing women respondents.
