Abstract

There is a direct relationship between cleanliness and economic development. Dirt spreads disease. Open defecation openly invites disease. On that, when there is a lack of basic health services, the disease will increase, the sick person cannot do any work properly and its direct effect falls on the productivity. The aim of the present study is to study the impact of the Central Rural Sanitation Program on the Scheduled Caste people living in Aligarh district.  Primary and secondary data and divine modeling have been used in collecting the data. Under the Central Rural Sanitation Programme, 2455 toilets were constructed for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Aligarh district in 2010-11 and an expenditure of Rs.158.10 lakh has been spent in it. Under this scheme, toilets have been built in 27.10 percent of the households, as a result of which this program has had a positive impact in the village. Consciousness about cleanliness has been awakened among the people.
