Abstract

In tribal ecology, it is necessary to study forest, agriculture, habitat, standard of living, health facilities. Generally, terrestrial ecology is defined in terms of vegetation cover. It is clear from the studies that if the population is more at a place and if the speed of its growth is also fast, then as a result of the creation of infrastructural facilities and due to developmental activities, the pressure on the existing resources increases continuously, In the present study, the researcher has tried to know the causes and effects of changing ecosystem of tribal areas due to population pressure in Betul-Chhindwara plateau in tribal and forest-dominated areas. The Betul-Chhindwara plateau has been selected for the study, which is a tribal-dominated and forest-dominated area. The main objectives of the study are to assess the trend of population growth in the study area and to study the impact of changing ecosystem and tribal culture as a result of exploitation of forest resources. Forests play an important role in regulating rainwater, temperature, heat and transpiration, and wind speed, etc.  Destruction of forests leads to such a vicious cycle that gradually the vegetation cover ends, soil erosion increases and ultimately changes in physical environment and climate. In view of the multifaceted role of forests in this holistic perspective, attention should be paid towards preventing forest destruction.
