Development of Education in Bastar - A Historical Review

Abstract
If we look at the field of education in Bastar, it is known that historically the development of education has been very low. Bastar was far away from the light of education and everywhere was plagued by the darkness of ignorance. According to Dr. Ramkumar Behar, the development of education here starts in the second half of the 15th century. Wherever there were princely states in the whole of India, the rulers of the place had adopted the attitude of indifference towards education. The state of mind of the kings of Bastar was no different from that of the rest of India. The geographical condition of Bastar was such that it was almost cut off from the outside world. Far from public education, there was no arrangement for the education of the princes here. The British J.T., who passed through some parts of the princely state of Bastar and Kanker in 1795 AD. Blunt has written in his travelogue that - The only Diwan of Kanker State was able to read and write in the entire princely state.
