Abstract

Under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme Act 2005, it was implemented on 2 February 2006 in the entire 200 districts. This scheme will be implemented in the whole country within five years. This scheme is a ray of hope for crores of unemployed people of the country. Under this scheme, from each family of unemployed, one adult member who is eligible for work is guaranteed to be given 100 days of employment. The main meaning of this scheme is the development of rural areas, because three-fourth of India's population resides in villages, to remove poverty of those people and to remove their unemployment and backwardness, the government started a new scheme which is known as Employment Guarantee Scheme. This scheme has been implemented by the government to improve the economy of the poor and to raise their standard of living, due to which the rural people can also get employment and they can live their life with self respect and self reliance.
