Role of NGO in Development of Tribal Society

Abstract

The tribal society of the country is very backward in comparison to other societies. Government and non-government organizations are making continuous efforts for its development. According to the context in which NGOs operate, their nature also changes to a great extent. Pati development block of Barwani district has been selected as the study area. Ashagram Trust is a holistic organization of all tribal family studies benefited from the NGO.   Using objective sampling method, 45 tribal families benefiting from NGO Ashagram Trust have been selected for research study. The preliminary data has been compiled from the facts and information received from the respondents through interview schedule, observation and group discussion. During the research work, interview schedule, observation and group discussion methods were used to collect the data. The work has been done mainly by the selected NGOs to improve agriculture, because the life of the tribal community revolves around agriculture. They have worked according to the need of the tribal community. Simultaneously, the resources and skills available with them were used to connect the tribal community with livelihood. Tribal society opinion was found positive towards the work done by the NGO.
