Abstract

The Constitution of India provides protection and security to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes with the aim of removing their social disabilities and promoting their various rights. The purpose of reservation is that those who are weak should be brought with the strong by giving them reservation. Reservation is a tool used for the upliftment of the backward and weaker sections of the society. Along with political emancipation in India, the goal of freedom from social and economic exploitation is also mentioned in the constitution itself.  Reservation has a special role in the educational, economic and social development of the weaker sections.
