Role of non-governmental organization in the development of tribal society

Abstract

The tribal society of the country is quite backward as compared to other societies. Government and non-governmental organizations are making continuous efforts for the development of this area. According to the context in which NGOs work, their form also varies to a great extent. Kepati development block of Barwani district has been selected as the study area. Ashagaram Trust is inclusive of all tribal family studies benefited from NGO's. Using purposive sampling method, 45 tribal families benefited from Ashagaram Trust NGO have been selected for the research study. The primary data has been collected from the facts and information obtained from the respondents through interview schedule, observation and group discussion. During the research, interview schedule, observation and group discussion methods were used to collect the data. The work done by the selected NGO is mainly related to the upgradation of agriculture, because the life of the tribal community revolves around agriculture. He has worked according to the need of the tribal community. At the same time, resources and skills available with the tribal community were used to connect them with livelihood. The tribal community opinion was found to be positive towards the work done by the NGO sector.
