Abstract
During the British rule, the promotion of English education was spread all over India, its effect also fell on the education system of Chhattisgarh. Western-style educational institutions were established all over the country and Chhattisgarh. The spread of English education led to the fusion of Indian culture and Indo-European culture. Indians began to feel the shortcomings of their culture and social evils and superstitions became clearly visible to them. As a result, the era of social and religious reforms began. In higher education Chhattisgarh College Raipur and S.B.R. The contribution of Mahavidyalaya Bilaspur is particularly noteworthy. Chhattisgarh also saw political and social progress due to English education. Women's education was also encouraged during this period and works were started for the upliftment and progress of women. During the reign of Lord Ripon, the Hunter Commission also suggested to encourage women's education specially. Many girls' schools were also established on personal grants. But there could not be adequate arrangements for education for girls in rural areas.
