Abstract
In order to remove the inequalities found in the distribution of daily essential commodities, the distribution of essential consumer goods in the public distribution system adopted in the Indian economy is ensured in such a way that all the consumer needs are supplied in prescribed quantity at a fixed interval. be able to obtain The main objective of this system is to provide consumption protection to the poor section of the consumers. In tribal areas, food is not available to crores of people in spite of government efforts, welfare organizations and expenditure of immense fiscal resources. Even today 26 crore people are living below poverty line. If the public distribution system is implemented with full honesty and capacity, then the items of daily consumption of poor families can be made available in certain quantities at the right time. The purpose of this study is to study the awareness, attitude and effectiveness of the tribal households about the public distribution system. Under the study area, Bagh development block of Dhar district of western Madhya Pradesh has been selected, which is a tribal dominated development block. In this development block 90.16 percent population is tribal. The study reveals that despite all the efforts of the Public Distribution System, there are many irregularities and difficulties in implementation at the ground level.
