Problems of higher education among tribal women

Abstract

Since independence, the government has been making efforts for the development of women through five year plans and other schemes, but still there has not been any significant improvement in the condition of women. In tribal areas, which are generally surrounded by forests or hilly areas, due to weak economic condition and it is not possible for women to go out of the house and get distant education, due to which tribal areas The level of education is found to be low. The purpose of the present study is to study the problems related to getting education of tribal women. The tribal dominated Khargone district of South West Madhya Pradesh has been selected for the study. The study found that lack of awareness, early marriage, distance to school, occupation and migration are the major problems that prevent tribal women from pursuing higher education.
