Abstract

The result of women's awakening was that in the second half of the 19th century, women began to gather courage to challenge their low status. Rajkumari amrit kaur has also written extensively about the awareness of women of the twentieth century about their rights. Sarojini naidu said that women were not confined within the boundaries of the house but became self-dependent. Women's movements in india should be seen in the context of the interaction between indian society and british power. The main goal of the women's movement was to improve the miserable condition of women i.e. Women's upliftment which means to improve the prevailing beliefs and practices in the society so that they can ensure their important constructive role in the society. At the same time, another important objective is to establish equal rights between men and women.
