Abstract

Srivitthal, the adorable deity of Maharashtra, is especially present in the minds of the people of Maharashtra. Sahasranamastotra has come on this deity under Pùpuran. In the present article, the deity Srivitthal has been referred to as Vishnu in the format of this Sahasranama. But its form is not explainable in Vedadi literature. The derivation of the name Vitthal about this deity, and a detailed discussion on the basis of Sahasranama has been done in this article.
