Abstract
Turning the pages of history shows that when Indira Gandhi became the first woman Prime Minister in India, what has changed in the status of women till date? Certainly there has been a rapid increase in the number of girls going to school in the cities and rural areas. The government is also trying to bring forward by making beneficial schemes for the safety of girls and providing them better opportunities. After the enactment of the National Human Rights Protection Act in 1993, there has been a radical change in the status of women. Which cannot be denied?
