Role of MNREGA in the Economic Empowerment of Women

Abstract
Rural women have been financially dependent on the men of the family since the beginning. Women used to do many works related to earning income in the daily routine of the family, but they never got the credit nor the right. On the other hand, the challenge of unemployment in the rural areas of the country continued to persist and the women of the village were dependent on their traditional work from which they did not get any special income, but for their livelihood, they struggled with the financial crisis for a long time even after independence. Is . After independence, many schemes were implemented by the government keeping this problem in mind of the rural people. As a result, the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act has come into existence. The scheme was notified on 7 September 2005 and started on 2 February 2006 from Badlapalli Gram Panchayat in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh State. This scheme was implemented in the initial phase in 200 districts of the country and later in all the districts of the country within 5 years.
