Growing Impact of Chinese Products on Indian Festive Economy

Abstract

 According to the specialties and needs of the festivals, goods are supplied in the market by the traders and manufacturers of many countries of the world. These are also called festival markets. The indigenous firecrackers used for Diwali, Holi or other Indian festivals are losing their popularity today and have been replaced by Chinese-made firecrackers. The objective of the present study is to find out the reasons for buying Chinese products by Indian consumers and what its impact on the Indian economy is. The study is based on primary and secondary data and facts. Preliminary data have been collected by interview, group discussion, selection of consumers on 200 different sections of Indore district. Secondary facts have been taken from the material published in newspapers, journals, magazines and books and on the basis of the information obtained from them, conclusions have been drawn. The study shows that due to the large scale production of Chinese goods, no sales tax, use of advanced technology, the goods are cheap. And due to poverty in India, the demand for cheap goods is high.
