Abstract
India is undeclaredly considered a male dominated country. Women are victims of domestic violence due to the economic power being in the hands of men. Many laws have been made in the country and the state to prevent violence against women. But despite all this, women are victims of violence. In the present study, an attempt has been made to know why women are victims of domestic violence. Are the police able to stop the violence against women? An attempt has been made to know these things in this research study. Analysis of the data shows that most of the female crimes either happened to the women of the family or women neighbors and acquaintances with themselves do not want to tell about the crime due to pressure, shame or other reasons. At the same time, justice was not served due to non-registration of cases in women's crime, the cases of those who registered cases are also pending for a long time. Some women withdrew the episode under family or other pressure.
