A study of socioeconomic background of Gond tribe on the basis of environment and gender

Abstract
The purpose of the present research is to find out the difference between the socio-economic background of the students of Gond tribe on the basis of environment and gender. Stratified non-proportional random method was used in the selection of 800 students of class VIII of Gond tribe as a sample for this study. For the measurement of socio-economic background, the socio-economic status index paper prepared by Prof. R. P. Verma, Prof. P. C. Saxena and Dr. (Mrs.) Usha Mishra was used. The mean, standard deviation and t-value were used to analyze the data. It was found in the results that there was a significant difference in the socio-economic level of the students of higher secondary school depending on the environment. But there was found no significant difference in their socioeconomic status on the basis of gender.
